The Beach

Recently, we decided to take advantage of the kids’ spring break, and take the 3 hour drive down to my mother-in-law’s home on the beach. Even though it definitely wasn’t warm enough to go for a swim, I thought the weather was absolutely perfect! We headed down to the boardwalk, played tons of games, ate crappy boardwalk food, and sat on the beach with our blankets, making sand castles. My kids are absolutely crazy about the water, and couldn’t resist getting their tiny toesies wet. Honestly, AJ was having way too much fun in the sand – and we ended up having to change him in the car! He had sand EVERYWHERE! Ha! I really love seeing how happy simple things, like the beach, make them.

Three Years Ago

3 years ago, on this very day, we had the most perfect addition to our little family. He fit right in – his personality complimenting those of his siblings in a most unbelievable way. My fifth child. He is strong, caring, and loves to make people laugh. He adores his sisters – and totally looks up to his brothers. At times, he’s a whirlwind of destruction – jumping off of tables and knocking down anything in his path. Other times, he’s the sweetest and most affectionate child I’ve known – hugging and kissing each and every one of us over and over. He loves superheroes – and most days, prefers that I call him “Peter Parker”. At this tender age, he also has a deep affection for his mama. Just the other day, he said to me, “Mama, you’re the best girl in the world!”  Words can never express how grateful I am to have him in our lives. He completes our family, and I often find myself wondering how we ever could’ve thought we were whole before him. AJ, there is nothing that I love more then watching you learn and grow every day. You are a blessing to our family, and I can’t imagine us without you. I am beyond honored to be your mama. Happy Birthday, my sweet boy.
