Holiday Weekend

This holiday weekend, at the very last minute, we decided to skip town and head down to the beach. The big boys weren’t around (Jacob was out with his friends and Justin was at his dad’s house), so it was just Tony, me, and our 3 little ones. Since we anticipated some serious traffic, we thought it would be nice (and easier) if we took the ferry. Our littles haven’t been on a boat of that size before, so this was an extra treat for them. Seriously, they couldn’t have been more thrilled! Once we arrived at the beach, we spent the entire evening barefoot, eating ice cream, and building sandcastles. We watched the sun set from our blanket and stuck around for the amazing fireworks show. (The beach is absolutely beautiful at night). And the next day, we did it all over again (minus the fireworks). All in all, it was wonderful.

The Beach

The Beach

Recently, we decided to take advantage of the kids’ spring break, and take the 3 hour drive down to my mother-in-law’s home on the beach. Even though it definitely wasn’t warm enough to go for a swim, I thought the weather was absolutely perfect! We headed down to the boardwalk, played tons of games, ate crappy boardwalk food, and sat on the beach with our blankets, making sand castles. My kids are absolutely crazy about the water, and couldn’t resist getting their tiny toesies wet. Honestly, AJ was having way too much fun in the sand – and we ended up having to change him in the car! He had sand EVERYWHERE! Ha! I really love seeing how happy simple things, like the beach, make them.
